Texas Drug Rehab Programs
The drug and alcohol rehab field has actually gotten further away from providing rehabilitation services than ever before, and has resorted to only short-term treatments instead. This is true for many programs in Texas as well.
A major shift occurred when people started to tread drug and alcohol addiction as a chronic, relapsing brain disease. This is only a theory and has never been proven, but it is presented to the American people as being a fact, which is false. There has never been a single study to prove this theory. On the contrary, it is an observable fact that people can and do completely and permanently recover from drug and alcohol addiction every day.
There are a couple major recommendations from us in order to accomplish this. One is to invest more than 30 days into yoursel or your loved on in a program. It is more likely that the insurance companies (for those who even have insurance) are the ones who decided 30 days was all they would pay for when going to inpatient treatment. As a result, most programs release clients around the 28-30 day mark - not because they're suddenly better, but because that's what they've been told to do by the source of their income (insurance company or the state).
The second major point is the go with a drug-free program. Along with the brain disease theory comes many new prescription drugs and medications to treat various symptoms of drug addiction or replacement drugs to keep cravings away. This is one of the biggest scams ever pulled on the American people. Putting an addict on more drugs will never cure him because he's still chemically dependent to get through the day. Replacing one drug for another, or temporarily treating the symptoms of addiction (depression, anxiety, mania, etc.) with a mental medication does not allow them to become fully rehabilitated. It is our observation that, invariably, people who take prescription drugs as a part of their drug treatment program will relapse. The best long-term results come from programs that don't try to put people on more drugs.
